clutch and schematic dont add upclutch and schematic dont add upi broke a snap ring on my clutch cause i didnt know how to remove the whole thing. there are 2 snap rings in the schematic #13. what is going to happen if i run the clutch with only one ring intact and where and how do i get another one and install it correctly?
also the schematic only shows me 4 fiber discs and i have 5 fibre and 5 steel, whats up with that?? please show me the correct way On the CB models there is one circlip retaining the clutch hub and it should be fitted and removed with snap ring pliers.
IIRC the design of clutch plates changed from thick fiber plates to aluminum cores but I'm not sure if that changed the thickness too. More, thinner plates are better than fewer, thick plates so that should not be an issue as long as the fit properly.
Re: clutch and schematic dont add upAs I look at a couple of parts books here in AU. (mine at at home) I don't see a #13 as a snap ring so I'll shoot from the hip on this one.
May I suppose what ya referr to a a Snap Ring is in fact a Thin Wire which installs on/into groves in the center hub. If so ya can run the clutch without any if ya need to however the clutch will work some better with both installed. Pertaining to number of Disc HONDA had several different center hubs in an attempt to cure clutch slippage problems. Many changes were made (4-5-6 dics) were installed until at sometime in 1965/66 the 5 Aluminum Core dics were installed (along with other hub design changes) which was/is IMO the best clucth to use even today. Tz is correct where he mentioned them. Parts books like most anything published will in time become obsolete as changes are made so at times one will need more/newer data to know true facts. .........lm
