Custom Exhaust?

Post by Johnny5 » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:22 pm

I want to go with straight pipes but I have no idea what size tube I would need nor where to get it from...or anything like that so if anyone has any cool ideas let me know.

Johnny, I suggest using 1.5 inch dia. pipe. Just about any muffler shop can supply the length of pipe. Say again which model you want these pipes for. Do you want high pipes or TT low style.
Davomoto should chime in, as he has great ideas. Double back crossover? Sweet!
I would have to say Byrdman76 has the best high pipes yet. Check the restoration forum under 66 CB cafe racer. Left and Right high with mufflers. I'll ad a picture of my 2 into 1 I just built. It has a 1.5 in. internal baffle with a chrome turnout tip.

Johnny, you could use some stock header pipes, and weld extensions on the ends, or find pipe with a slightlyy larger ID that could be slipped over and clamped. In the S.F. Bay Area, we have a place called Alco that sells metal scrap. They have tons of tubing, stainless and titanium. Look for a similar place in your area?
