Just a thought....

I have done this same thing and I just wanted to make a suggestion. The seal on the speedo is never enough to keep moisture out and the brass needles will corrode very fast. I just clear coated the needles and that worked fine. Nowadays I am not returning thinkgs to their OEM status but customizing so we just paint the face and needles. By the way, nice touch with the fine grit accross the needles. Watchmakers do the same thing on watch cases to give the a matte finish. Great eye for detail.

Thanks for the tip. I was debating on clear coating them b/c of the possible oxidation. I'm still up in the air if I want to keep it polished or paint it back to white, red, or another color. This one won't be going in the bike until I start my rebuild in Jan/Feb of next year so I have some time to think about it. :-)
