Thanks for the replies. Can those of you who've done it - post a picture of the finished repair? That would help me/others make the right choices and put the end result into focus.

Here's my work on the Speedometer ring to date. It still needs more detail work, but you get the idea of how the silicon works to restore it to something like it was when new. It still needs another coat or two plus some sanding and detail work with a razor. Hope this helps. Craig
