Please give a pic of the area where the carb mounts to the head.
I'd like to see that area. ......lm

Here's another oddity. Check out how the tank was cut to accept the carbs. What's strange here? Doesn't look at all like my old CL72.
Thanks

Thanks for the response loud mouse. I've posted some good photos here: http://dashplaque.net/CL77

I just don't understand the reason that the tank brackets were cut for the carbs to fit. I have another set of carbs and they look the same.
BTW the fender is certainly an 8 holer.
Thanks
Stuart

The carb isn't the problem.
I suspect the area of the rear tank mount.
The frame has a large hole which HONDA installed rubbers on each side which determines the height
of the tank mounting bolt.
I suspect the centering rubbers are not there and the bolt is laying at the bottom of the frame mount. ............lm

Just checked the bushings. They're there and look almost new. When the tank bolt is loosened there is no play in the bushing. The tank appears to be in the only position in can be in....
I'm going to remove the tank next weekend as it has a small bit of rust inside. I'll be able to get more photos then.
Thanks, Stu
