Engine Removal Question

Post by Ilbikes » Sun Mar 28, 2010 10:03 pm

Guys, I've got my CL77 almost stripped and just on appearances, there is not much room to remove the engine from the frame. I'm still waiting on the factory shop manual and Bill Silver's books don't describe the method. Which side and are there any tricks to removal?

Thanks,
Gordon

eng removal

Post by rustywrench » Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:05 am

I've found that by removing the exhaust studs before hand will give you a little more room and on the right there is a small metal plate as part of the eng.mount. remove that also and slide the eng. to the right. They like to hang up on the mounts but will wiggle out to the right. Also a good friend here in the NW likes to replace the exhaust studs with bolts of the appropriate length and will make eng. removals easier in the future. Keep in touch,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,RW
