Rear pillion arm finish

Post by FAST FRED » Sat Mar 27, 2010 12:22 am

While assembling my 65 CL77 I came to the rear footpeg arms. Mine look like hell. Can anyone tell Me if the original arms and sidestand were painted, plated or O-natural?

Fred

Pretty sure that the footrest arms and side stand were both zinc plated (silver - not yellow passivated).

The better used ones I have picked up have been plated and I have had mine re-done that way.

Fred, yes they were plated. I have mine done in clear cad, much more durable than zinc.

Thanks for the quick response guys. Looks like I'm off to the plater for some zink plating as my 65 is supose to be a "proper restoration".
