Finish on brake stopper arms?

Can someone decsribe the factory finish on the front and rear brake stopper arms for a 1965 CL77? The bike I'm restoring has been heavily modified and they are currently chrome, but I have a feeling that was not the original finish. TIA --Randall

On the CL77 both were chrome.
The CB77 had chrome front but zinc plated rear. .............lm
