520 chain

Post by Len » Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:38 pm

Hey guys,
Im looking to put a 520 chain set up on my CB77. Any ideas on where I could get a front sprocket? Will a front CA77 sprocket work on a CB77?

As I recall the CA chain is a 525 but the CL72 is a 520.
What is the reason for installing a 520 chain on your CB77?. ...........lm

Thanks again Loud Mouse! Well, I need to replace my sprockets and chain so why not go with something lighter. I figure there is more chain options with the 520.

LM is correct. Grab a CL front sprocket and get some alloy rear sprockets made for a lighter stronger 520 chain. A 525 is what's stock on GSXR's so you should find one that's capable of taking all the punishment a CB or CL can hand out.

For racing though a 520 is a good modification.

If ya plan on street riding I suggest ya stay with the 530 as the sprockets are available and may last longer than the thinner 520 size. ...............lm

Len, try sprocket specialists for front and rear sprockets. I'm running a 520 on my cafe' CB77, and it's plenty strong. Modern 50+ horsepower dirt bikes use 520. 530 really is overkill for these bikes. A good quality, non o-ring chain is the way to go.
