Diffuser (baffle) question

Post by Eljeef » Wed Jan 27, 2010 6:35 pm

Hello everyone. Does anybody know if I should use the frame serial number or the engine serial number when looking for exhaust diffusers (baffles) ? Thanks.

Thanks for replying Mr. Moore. Perhaps you could tell me if the info I have on my parts list is incorrect. According to that list there are two possible baffles with part numbers 18391-259-000 and 18391-254-010. If I go by my engine number then the first part number applies, frame number corresponds to the second one. I am looking at a set right now but don't want to grab the wrong ones. Would you please clear this up for me? Thank you.

The numbers ya give are actually for the muffler/head pipe gasket.
The baffle numbers are 18311-259-010 and from what I've ever seen that baffle is the same for the DREAM/HAWK/SUPER HAWK. ......lm

You're right of course. Now that you've pointed that out I can see my mistake in grabbing those other numbers. I couldn't make out the gaskets in the picture. (nearsighted). Are those gaskets usually an orangish color and kinda like rubber? I have about 6 or 8 of those if that's them. Jeff.

When ya look at the front of the muffler you will see a formed area the round rubber/neoprene red/black seal/gasket fits.
If the front is not formed for the round gasket it will be straight/flat so a sort of rubber/neoprene sock fits. ..............lm
