Re: Another label

The answer below is correct but to add to that.
The CB72 tag as I've seen it was/is a stamped brass plate attached to the top/left side of the swing arm with 2 small hammer rivets.
As I know it ALL (original/stock paint) CL72 HONDA'S sent to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA came with a sort of foil (black/silver) similar to the GREEN one AND EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE SHOWN at the site, which was glued to the top/left side of the swing arm. ..............lm

What about this label on the frame under the toolbox?
The only words I could translate were small vehicle at the first line and Honda before CB250.

Hi Bech and Loud Mouse,

Loud Mouse, forgive me for this question, but are you sure about the CL72 ?
According to my source of information that only the early CL72's (with the aluminum front fender) were having this sticker. The CB72, only the early models, you're right, it was a brass plate. Saying that you're right on this point doesn't implicate you're wrong on CL72 sticker.

The first image is the CL72 label, the second image is the CB250 label. For better comparison I reworked the images a little bit.

Most of the characters are the same, a few are different.

May I ask what ya consider as EARLY?
The CB72 plates I've seen were BRASS.
As I have one of the very few Large Brake CL72 bikes and it has the tag I'd stand by my statement.
How many members have the Large Brake CL72 to compare?

According to my source of information that only the early CL72's (with the aluminum front fender) were having this sticker. The CB72, only the early models, you're right, it was a copper plate.

Hi LM,

In this case the swing arm makes the difference, the early CL72 had a swing-arm, with two eyes where the shocks are bolted on. Later CL72 had a different swing arm, with clevis (is that the right word ?) for the shock mounts. These stickers where only on the early swing arms.

You are correct as to the mounting of the rear shocks of the CL72.
However you are not correct about the sticker.
I have here several CL72 HONDA'S so I am able to verify what ya say (These stickers where only on the early swing arms.) by looking to see if you are correct.
Of the many CB/CL72/77 HONDA'S I have in my BONE YARD I found 2 CL72 bikes which have the stickers on the swing arm and clevis hock shock bottoms.
CL72-4000428 and CL72 1010751 both have stickers and clevis shock bottoms.
Which is an early and which is a late issue to you?
What year were they made?. ..........lm
