Need Brake Adjusting procedure for CB77Need Brake Adjusting procedure for CB77Need the adjust procedure for the CB77. Front brakes are less effective than the rear so me-thinks adjusting of cable and linkage is needed.
Today (27nov09) I started helping a friend with his "new to him" CB77. First task is making the front brakes work at least as well as the rear brakes. Had the front wheel off and apart today. There is plenty of pad left on the shoes (bike has 11K miles on it). Upper shoe appears to have no wear. Seems impossible the bike would have been built and sold this way but that's how it looks. Maybe the shoes were replaced but 11K miles seems early for that. Lower shoe has some wear. About 2/3 of the lower shoe's friction surface is "polished" indicating contact with the drum. Lower shoe is connected to the cable. Upper shoe is driven by the linkage. I think we can get one shoe or the other to grab but not both at the same time. So. Can anybody tell us what to do in what order? Thanks, Mitch BrakesMitch, welcome to the forum. If you read through the next few pages of this section of the forum, all yer questions will be answered. They're not to tough to adjust once you know the procedure. I always follow LOUDMOUTHS advice and things seem to work pretty well. Good luck...........D
Dgormley: Thank you for your kind response. I must defend my over anxious post.
I post frequenty on other forums about other topics. I know to "read before write". Last night I saw only 2 pages of posts not the 17+ that displayed this morning. I wondered why the list would be so short. This morning I found the post you refered me to. Sorry to have nagged the board with a "repeat". Thanks again, Mitch BrakesMitch, hey it's all good. I hope you found what you were looking for. Being that you're new here I expect to see more questions in the future. Your post states that it's your friends CB-77, when are YOU going to get one of these great bikes?.........................D

Some time just before my divorce. As I'm actually quite fond of my wife it is not likely to be any time soon. My friend, Luke, is fortunate in that his wife rides as well. Sadly we cannot all get perfect wives. My wife is almost perfect and I am set on keeping her. Thanks, Mitch PS I've studied the instructions and will try them on my next "Play date" at Luke's house.
