I have recently fitted a CB450 cam chain to my CB77 and fitted a riveted up type 'soft link ' instead of the spring link type , I find the spring link type doesn't fit the CB450 cam chain, even some of the pattern chains with the same part number as CB77 are supplied as endless type !!!
I have measured the size of the cam chain pins and find sizes are; spring link are 3.15mm,soft rivet up link are 3.00mm.
The reason I used the CB450 chain , (shortened ), is that I had one spare. I have attached, I hope, a photo of my home made rivet -up tool, made from a piece of scrap metal, two holes drilled and tapped to 6mm and two bolts fitted, one of which I ground down to a slight point, which I hardened by heating to red hot and quenching in water.
Another item I use is a rubber door stop wedge to stop the cam from moving when you are tightening up the centre lock nut .
All the best one excellent helpful site,
Cheers Neale.
