I have been following this thread for a while. Simply fascinating.

To egg on Gun just a little, at the time these bikes were made, there were no vhs (and obviously no dvd's either). We went to the movies and even had "Drive-ins". We did have 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records. At the end of 305 production we got to 4-track and then 8-track tapes.

My point is that while dvd's may be better that vhs, many audiophiles believe that 33 1/3 records sound better than CD's. Hmmmm. I'm left wondering if LM's point of view should be given more further consideration.

FWIW, I road with my friend and his CB350 twin (72) on sunday. I happened to take note that the recommended oil on the case was a multi grade, and he too has a centrifugal filter (stated in a bill silver responce, http://en.allexperts.com/q/Motorcycle-R ... stions.htm) although i do see actual filters for 350's online, i think the 350f's had actual filters? (scratches head). just an observation.

would anyone like to comment on consistancy of viscosity between straight weight and multi grade? (read all of this thread but not at once, hope i didnt miss any realitive comments)

I personally have a very slim CD collection, and a very large Vinyl collection. even at 26 years old I can appreciate, what I interpret as, the better sound of analog recording on vinyl.

I also have a cb77 instead of new age sports bike.

I've been putting DVDs in my old VHS player for a while; they never play and now I can't seem to get any more in! I'm working on a new device now: an 8-Track mp4 player.......

Its terrifying, your giving my flash backs of my college fluid dynamics books :) haha, all this stuff is indeed interesting.

is there a unit or test value for the change in viscosity as a function of temp of an oil?

The numbers refer to Redwood Seconds or, as I've learnt, nowadays Saybolt Seconds; as delineated by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). I was 'brought up' to refer to the Redwood viscometer.
