amal carbs
Wow - been a while since I posted anything in this thread!
Yes, stock throttle cables. Bolts right up perfectly. Here we are more than two years (and about 10,000 miles) later, and they still run great. Interestingly, the Read Titan - which was a hopped-up version of the SuperHawk - used 26mm Amal Mk. 1 Concentrics.
They bolt right on with no modification. They are physically a bit smaller than the Keihins, so you have a bit more room to work with. As far as jetting goes, they worked pretty well right out of the box, though we did end up changing the slide from a '2' to a '2.5'. As well, you'd need to take into consideration if you are using some kind of aftermarket muffler, if you're using K&N filters, etc. Out of the box should probably get you fairly close, but I'm sure some tweaking will be required, depending upon your particular setup of the other elements.
Please be aware that I am not a mechanic. My mechanic, John Grainger, did all the work, so I probably can't provide much more technical detail than this, or what has been provided in earlier posts in this thread. I'm much better at providing a 'seat of the pants' perspective.
Thanks for all the updates Vince. Always nice to hear the results of some experimentation. And, always love the photos.
