oil leakoil leakso im leaking a bit of oil from the clutch cover side case. havent tracked it down 100% but plan to this weekend. it does look like its coming from or near the bottom middle portion where the cover meets the lower part of engine. i have replaced the gasket last weekend with no fix. so my question is can i just a bit of hondabond where it seems to be coming from? any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
Indeed, cleaning with engine cleaner and powdering with flower or baby powder. Locating is one thing, solving another. If you located the leak, inspect the cases very carefully. The only reason why cases are leaking are the cases itself (if everything else is oil tight). Check for Simple reasons are not flat, not clean, warping, scratches, not enough pressure from the bolts for whatever reason, not the right length of the busings which holds the case in place (too long), dirt in the bushing holes so that these won't lower down enough, wrong assembly of clutch (too long), etc. jensen assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)
thanks jensen for the info. so say the leak is coming from the lower part of the cover not mating correctly. is it safe to put a little hondabond in that spot to help the gasket out? another scenario would be if it does have some scratches there i just cant sand it can i? i would be scared of getting bits of metal into the case and if i were to sand it in only that spot wouldnt that make the mating even worse? sorry just trying to run over scenarios so i can buckle down this weekend and fix it properly. i will check it in detail this weekend and go over everything you had said along with any other info you and others may provide.thanks again

I assembled mine 4 months ago with just that thin little gasket (no sealer) and it' still bone dry. Everything else being correct I would suspect the case or the cover has damage. D
