left bank hot
left bank hotI've been through both carbs, set timing, as per Ed Moore, and the left cylinder is runing hot to the point that the rubber gasket in muffler is melting. Where or what did I miss? Stumped in Adamsville.

Just a thought: does this manifest itself during standstill or whilst riding? If the latter then it could be the auto-advancer mech getting sloppy. Is the very top end of the motor noisy / clattery? Although this wouldn't, by itself, cause your symptom unless just the left timing was starting off over advanced, at least.
plugsboth plugs are blackened, the left more than right. I set the timing with just the right side points, I did'nt follow through with Ed Moores prossess, I think I'm getting punchy working on the old girl, she just won't lift her skirt for me. I'm going to ignore her awhile and clean up the bones, donor bikes, out of the garage and study the forum some more. Thanks for the come back, you guys are great.
chico 66CB77 PS it was in the twenties,F, this morning, upstate New York, near Lake George, north of Albany. Re: left bank hotJust a side note that might be relevant. I recently purchased a set of muffler seals for my CB77 off EBay, and they immediately melted when I started the motor. The EBay seller kindly refunded my money. Did you perhaps buy some of the same seals?

It was in the twenties here, too....... 26ºC! Although some rain most days last week. But a lovely day on Saturday -- I went for a 2-hr ride in shorts, tee-shirt, helmet, gloves & Aviators. One day I'll remember to take my bloody camera and pic the bike and do a 'jlee' and film some of the ride thru' the countryside..... you can hear my little ends a-rattlin'! dkwilfert wrote: Not from hdhummer, by any chance? I've always had good service and products from them, but not tried the seals yet -- they're for the rebuild.
hdhummersYes my rubber on the left side looks just like dkwilfert's, and they are hdhummers.I would like to see some pics, steve, where's your thread on the the forum? Don't forget to include your brite and shining face.
