What is this part for???

It's a triangular sheped gizmo with two holes in it and it is bolted on top of the crankcase under the carburetors. Do the wires go through it or what? This is on my 1964 CB72.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Mike

There is a sheet metal engine cover that has a knob similar to the side cover knobs with a spring that locks into the round center hole. You can see how it is in the picture. The bracket you described bolts to the top of the engine to allow the cover to be installed.<br /><br />Matt

I think the 'gizmo' is the mounting lug used for the carb cover on a dream, unless you are refering to the black knob which holds the cover on. They used the same casting for all the 77 model engines<br /><br />Case bolts were on it when I got it. I had some laying around from a Benelli project I stuck in the other side.<br /><br />Side covers are painted Tempo Acrylic lacquer 'Dull Aluminum' rattle can, with Tempo clear coat over. Gas resistant!<br /><br />Matt

Hey guys, I'm new here and I have some knowledge of these
bikes and would like to share with you(But I'm here to learn also), for
one thing, that the allen screw bolts )as you call them) can be found
quite often on ebay. I would consider one thing though, if the prices
are cheap then the bolts probably are too. There is a place, that I can't
think what the name is, that should have them also. I'll try to
remember it and get back to you, if someone else doesn't beat me to

It's working already, my memory, that is. One place is called
"Rice Paddy" I believe but, there is at least one more place. I'll stay on
it and get back to you.
