Cylinder Head Cover - Cross Screws

Post by jarl1967 » Thu Aug 13, 2009 4:09 pm

i need to replace the 6x18 cross screws (93500-06018) used to attach the cylinder head cover on my 1966 CL77. Does anyone know if Honda changed the thread pitch for these screws, and thus I need to be careful to find the correct ones (i'm guessing the dreaded JIS which is becoming next to impossible to find!)

JIS?

Jarl, I am pretty sure you're all right on those screws. I think it was the smaller screws you have to worry about. (LM?)

NOT TO WORRY JARL ONLY 3,4 AND 5MM SCREWS ARE DIFFERENT THREAD PITCH. THE THREAD PITCH FOR 6MM SCREWS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME JIS OR IOS.

follow up

Post by jarl1967 » Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:15 pm

thanks guys...both responses were very helpful.

it brings up another question though....can someone explain the meaning of the suffixes I see after most of the screws/bolts: -0A, -0B, -0S, -02 etc;
i thought i read somewhere that it is a finish designation but would like to be more informed.

appreciate any info.,

-02 is a chrome finish; I think -0A is the ISO thread version of the original JIS thread pitch for 3,4, & 5mm fasteners
