1965 cb77 engine misfiring1965 cb77 engine misfiringhi all,
new member. my 65 cb77 left cylinder is misfiring. done all the routine: valve clearance, timing, new plugs, carbs sync. i suspect it does not have good compression(i still need confirm with gage). any body knows a good mechanic in los angeles area who knows this bikes? i do not have the time and all the tools for this work. thanks.
Re: 1965 cb77 engine misfiringHow did ya set the points?
Is the vent on the bottom of the bowl of that carb open?. ....lm
i followed Ed Moore's special tuning recipe and as well as teaked it by observing how the engine is firing.
which is the bowl vent? is this visible outside of the carb?i see a bowl screw which i assume is for draining the bowl or this is the bowl vent? both are closed. by the way, when fully seated, not stopped by the idle screw, the slides are still about 1/16" open, ie not fully shut. i also noticed that the idle mixture screw adjustment does not respond. i set it at 1 1/8 turn as recommended by Ed's recipe. then turned it fully in and out further, the motor idling did not change. pulling off the left spark plug cap at idle the engine rpm does not change. if the right is pulled off it stops. confirmed there is electricity at the plugs. at idle, there is a popping sound on the left cylinder which my guess is ignition after past the exhaust valve. the engine idles at 800 rpm altho as i mentioned, only right cylinder is working. appreciate any assist. thanks. john
I'd say ya have a carb problem as there is no response to normal adjustments. .....lm
