misc bits found during engine teardownmisc bits found during engine teardownstarted tearing apart the spare cb77e i have, these fell out when i removed the oil pump.
i've figured out that the part on the right is called a "kick spindle pawl" (#20) after i opened the crankcase and found another one in the kick spindle assembly. the parts manual i have lists it as qty 1, is there any reason why an extra one would be sitting at the bottom of the case? the part on the left is another mystery. i can verify that it's not the "kick spindle pawl push pin" (#22), could it be a knock pin (#2A)? i seem to be missing both of those!
Re: misc bits found during engine teardownMAY I ASK HOW YA CAN BE SURE IT ISN'T A "PUSH PIN"?. ..........lm
Hi,
I go along with LOUD MOUSE, it seems to be a push pin, before it was damaged. Maybe the other spring is also somewhere in your cases, and hopefully in one piece. Check everything very carefully, clean the oil filter (use a magnet to find metal parts in the sludge) and if there are, find out where it's coming from. Check and clean the oil pump, take extra care checking the oil pump gears. large pieces of metal will be filtered out by the filter screen, but small particles not. Jensen
I would suspect it is/was a pin and all ya need to find is the other spring.
Sort of looks like someone dropped them as they assembled/disassembled the engine at a earlier time. ....??????????????....lm
