Piston Ring Order

Post by Spargett » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:00 am

I was curious as to the order of piston rings. I found this photo below, but I just wanted to check with you guys to make sure that it's correct. Just because someone put a picture of it on the internet, doesn't always mean it's right ; )

The bottom ring is obvious, but the top two on mine were indiscernibly different. New set looks just like what's in the photo. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I tried to search the forums in advance, I couldn't find anything.

Bills Manual says shiny silver ring on top . Dull dark ring middle. I would say your picture is correct.

Also, be sure to put the end gaps 120 degrees apart.

It appears my rings don't have any numbers on them whatsoever. They're NOS honda rings too. Oh well.

Davo, thanks, saw reference to that in Bill Silver's manual. Always appreciate the reminders.
