Front fender... posessed?

I've been moving my bikes around, so it took me a couple of days to get this pic taken. I'll take better pics soon if this does not suffice. This one was taken with my phone.

This picture shows the fender attached only by the front and rear stabilizer arms. You can see how far off the tire the front and rear edges of the fender are. You may also be able to tell that the center mount is not correctly lined up with the locating tabs or bolt holes.

I don't think I'm putting it on backwards, because the loops for the cables are correctly located on the rear stabilizer arms.

From what I see the middle attachment has been moved from it's original location for some reason. Ya may want to look apx. 2 inches to the front for obvious holes. If not visible from the top look underneath. I doubt this was ever installed on your bike as it is. ......................lm

Take the fender off, mount it, center first. then draw the stays back in to place. If it won't go, you cahnged the shape, enough to matter.

When I was a kid, I was a helper at a restoration shop, that was doing a body off job to a 56 T-bird. The painter would shoot the laquer at nite. Us helpers , would we sand out the orqnge peel in the day, smoothing for the next coat of paint. The pieces were finished, perfect under the car as well as they were, on top of the car! The body had been flipped many times, in this process, and to every ones dismay, the doors would not go in the openings, when it was time to assemble. I don't remember just what had to be done be it messed up some of the finished work, and had to rework to get it back.

So I must have been mistaken about the fender fitting in the first place, and it seems I may have a fender for steel sliders (mine are alloy). If anyone can tell by these pictures, and if anyone wants to swap fenders, this one is in pretty decent shape. It just doesn't fit my bike properly.

I gently hammered out dents in the leading and trailing edges, sanded off some surface rust and primed the fender. Any scuffing in the primer is from me trying to wrestle this fender onto the bike.

Pic #2 tells me ya have the Steel Slider issue. .......lm
