All snapped, i drilled out

Post by young4vr » Thu Mar 12, 2009 7:32 am

Not having much luck removing the snapped bolts. especially the longer ones. I wanted to remove the pump to check the oil screen and make sure it was clean. Screen was spotless, that is what is making this annoying.

Odds are that they broke because a previous owner/MECHANIC? installed bolts which were so long they bottomed to the case and were partly sheered when installed and broke apart when ya tried to remove them. I'd say ya need some luck and new stainless thread inserts when ya get the ends out. Good luck. ..................lm

I had the same problem. A few came out easy with and easy-out, a few didn't. It will leak oil unless you have all 6 in securly. I ended up completely drilling them out and re-taping the holes.
