Post by young4vr » Tue Mar 10, 2009 11:33 am

Was removing my oil filter in my 66 CA77, and snapped all the bolts in the case. Will try and remove the remaining parts of the bolts tomorrow. What a pain. Will need to find new bolts. has this every happened to anyone else.

Bolts

The five that hold it to the case. I thought it was kind of odd, especially to have all of them snap.

Oil filter or oil pump?
The oil pump is installed with 6 6mm bolts where the filter is behind the round cover polished cover on the left side. ..........................lm

A picture of just what you're talking about would probably be helpful.

It's kind of hard to snap the bolts to the oil filter because these are Phillips heads. If you mean the bolts around the oil pump, I snapped 4 of them. I had to lift the bike and lay it on it's side on a table so I could drill and easy-out them out. It was a real pain to fix. One tip, don't bust off a titanium drill bit in the bolt when your drilling them out :)

I have taken a few of the oil pumps out and never snapped one of those bolts off.Guess I was lucky.
