WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE OIL FILTER GETS FULL

Here are pics of what happens to the shaft and the engine end of the filter when it isn't cleaned and oil can't lubricate the shaft. See how full of debris the filter is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. ..........lm

I dont know if that would be better or worse than what I found this weekend. When I pulled the filter out originally it was darn near spotless inside. I initailly thought this was a good sign until I found the Drive gear spinning freely on the crank and everthing that should have been in the filter was in the bottom of the crankcase. The nut was tight but the washer was not seated fully against the gear and the lock washer was broken. Been that way awhile I'm guessing.

Bills manual says every 1000 mi or less. I'm thinking less. Recommended clean out w/ every oil change. For some of us that might mean every year requardless of milleage.
