Headlight question???

Post by Mike Mullins » Tue Feb 10, 2009 8:42 pm

Working on the '67 CB 77 and after taking the headlight ( sealed beam #1006) apart to see if I could " improve" it, I notice the headlight and ring were apparently not the same as the other CB 77s I have. The headlight itself has a 3 prong plug on the back, and a sort of adapter with a 3 prong female with leads that then plug into the wiring harness. The headlight ring has different tabs on it, and uses the wire springs to keep it in place, and also has the long screw for lateral adjustment. Looks a lot like the CL 450 I used to have. Anyone else ever encountered this ? I did a search and came up with nothing, and checked the manual I have (Clymer) and Bill Silvers CD.
Thanks in advance

Mike, sounds like you have the last-issue headlight ring with the lateral adjustment screw; also, to me, it seems you have the sealed beam reflector, rather than the replaceable bulb.

Thanks Steve:
I did not know that there was such a headlight ring, and nothing I could search indicated that. The headlight itself did have a large bulb soldered into place, and the bulb is not replaceable. (Well, it is now- since everything is in pieces.) The back of the reflector was dented, so I had nothing to lose by taking it apart. I think a trip to Auto Zone is in order.
thanks
Mike
