I Have Questions About Crank Bearings On My Super Hawk
I Have Questions About Crank Bearings On My Super HawkMy Questions are about the right crankshaft bearing. From my previous question sometime back, I know that the right crank bearing consists of the individual bearing rollers along with the inner & outer races. Then, there's another bearing to use, if the inner race of the previously mentioned bearing is bad.
My questions are: 1. Is one the one type of bearing better than the other one? 2. Is the inner race of the original "multipiece" bearing, hard to remove? I hadn't really looked to see how much trouble it would be to remove. 3. If it were YOU, which bearing would you prefer to run and why? I DO remember that the inner race, which is all I have of the right side bearing, is in good shape. I would appreciate your input on this. Thank you, Bill
Re: I Have Questions About Crank Bearings On My Super HawkThe OTHER BEARING is a Ball type which is to replace the Pin bearing as the engine was issued if the Pin bearing went bad and damaged the bearing race on the crank end. I know of no performance advantage for the Ball bearing other than ya can use a crank with a damaged bearing surface. ................lm

If the crank and otter bearing races and the pins are good I use them. The BALL type is rather expensive and I have only used that type when the crank bearing race is shot but the rest is good to use. Saves getting another crank. Even though I have them here. ............lm
