Original vs Restored???

Post by jwbert » Fri Jan 30, 2009 11:12 am

Opinions please. Say you have an original seat, unrestored, that is really nice but does have some flaws and a newly restored seat that is perfect but the cover, although very nice and a close match to original is clearly not original material, which do you use for a restoration? I'm not talking about the bike I ride a lot but more of a show bike. Which do you think would add more value? Thanks for the imput.

My opinion is use the original if your going for show, any viewer will overlook a flaw knowing the age of the bike. If it is a daily rider you do what your comfortable with, no pun intended.

i took off the original seat from my Honda dream and replaced it with a recovered one i bought on ebay. the original was very nice with no rips or tears, buy i was concerned of any damage if i continued using it. i keep the original and would put it back on if i ever took it to a show
