As a new rider I'd really love to hear about accidents you've been involved in over the years. In sharing experiences I hope we can try and all learn from the collective's personal lessons. I figure there's no better way than hearing it from the the horse's mouths.
Let the stories begin!

Well, I got drunk and fell off my bike once. It was a good thing I was going slow on a dirt road. I only bent the handlebars :) I have been fortunate to screw up and learn from it without killing myself. Don't drink and ride, or as the beer commercials say... drink responsibly.
Wear the gear! Get a good helmet, leather coat, gloves and boots and use them. Cycles always loose in a crash. The guys I rode with always wore helmets and a few of them are still around because they did. Gunner
crashesI'd rather forget most of my crashes, they don't reflect well on me, usually ETOH as the ems folks say. I did hit a deer once, sober, in 1965. Managed to get sideways when he jumped out in front of me, he hit air cleaner cover just behind me left knee. Dented the cover and broke off the key, had to turn bike on and off with a quarter for awhile there. Coulda been a lot worse. Killed the deer, we took him home, cut him up, and ate him. I noticed there's still a barely visible dent there after recent bondo job in preparation for painting, I guess I'll leave it there for nostalgia. No more ETOH and driving for me this time around, I'll have too much time and dinero, not to mention karma, invested in restoration by the time I'm done to be fooling around. JLW
Grabbing the front brake too hard whilst cranking it through a bend.......twice! (Twat!). Not the same day but certainly the same week. Both cw & acw; broke both kneecaps in the processes. Live & learn -- never fell off a bike again, so worthwhile lessons. That was 1971.
Talking lessons: the difference between a blonde woman and a computer? Only need to punch the information into the computer once.......
