Winkers on 63 model CB77 from Netherlands

Post by jadahonda » Sun Nov 23, 2008 5:02 am

I have a 1963 model that comes from Netherland. I am unshure if they had winkers there, and if, what type. I know there is difference from what area it is sold in. Ie, Germany, UK, US, geneal export. I am unshure if Netherland was using a geneal export model or Germany or else. Anyone who have an idea?
Thanks, Jan

Hello Jan, good to have you along for the bumpy ride here!

Some CP models, originally destined for Canada & Germany, apparently had winkers. We didn't seem to get them in the UK.

Take a look at your fellow countryman, Fred's, restoration here: http://www.honda305.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3492 I have some aftermarket winkers on my CB here in Majorca; I inherited them when I bought the bike in the UK. I've refitted them for a more 'factory' look, but Fred was lucky enough to have the proper brackets for the rears already on his frame.

The OE switch/starter/throttle assembly will be the most difficult item to obtain -- and quite expensive -- as there were few produced (compared with the number of CBs/CPs out there). Here's a complete switch set http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-dr ... 240%3A1318

There's a pair of NOS winkers on eBay at the moment http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-CB ... 240%3A1318 but no lampholders, although those do crop up from time to time.

Hi Steve!
Thanks for your answer. from the parts manual, I have found that Germany and switzerland used the same winker. Up to serial number CB77-401560 (64 model) they used square winker, (http://www.cmsnl.com/img/partslist/wink ... 9F18-1.gif) Later it was used a round type, so IF there shall be winkers on mine, (63 model) I think that they must be the square type.

As far as I understand, the round type on Fred's bike is not original winker for Germant/Switzerland, they had another design. (http://www.cmsnl.com/img/partslist/wink ... 9F18-1.gif) They are not mentioned in the parts manual either. (I have a complete set of 4 if someone is interrested)

I have the switch, relay and the front winkers without lenses, but miss the rear ones, and two lenses. So if anyone out there have some of the parts, and wanted to sell, I would be happy.

In the end, I think the question is if Netherland had or not had winkers.

Thanks for your answer!
Jan

Maybe Fred can answer that one.

Sorry, I misunderstood; I thought you were in Holland. Jan Tveten in Norway? With the CB750 sandcast (among others)?

Serious collection, my friend! Plenty to do on those cold Norwegian nights! Looks like the collection of metal has grown (or should that be 'groan'?!).

I'm surprised not to find Ray H from UK (hondablackbomber) here; he has no less than 30 older Hondas! CB72s, 77s, and 15 of which are CB450BBs!

30 bikes! I understand that I still have a long way to go. A 65 model BB is also on my "wish list" I am not shure who Ray H is.... I know Ray Davis in UK, he is most into CB92. Ray told me two year ago when I started this. "I hope you know that you have got an illness with no cure" So after two year, my life is like this "my letter box is full of bills, and my wallet is full of nothing" I start to understand what he was thinking of....

I also need a seat for my 63 in any condition, but the alu trim must be there. You have any idea?

Jan
