Update on badge repair.I tried mixing black acrylic laquer paint with fiberglass resin and it works pretty well.The color and texture pretty much matches the badge.
I found out if you use too much paint the resin doesn't want to harden.
It made the badge presentable at least. I think with a little practice this can be a very effective way to restore broken badges.

Just wanted to add a little more info on the badge restoration.It was also dull, dirty and had minor scratches.I used Turtle Wax white polishing compound on it and a gave a mirror like finish to it.
It came much better than i'd hoped.

I have repaired several old , broken, cracked plastic badges using epoxy resin tinted with WestSystem graphite powder. squeegee clearcoat into the cracks, wetsand between coats. finish off with clearcoat spray job. lots of time involved, but some of these badges are just too hard to replace with new unless you can live with the repops.
