good polish for wheel hubs

i am to the point of trying to clean up my rims and hubs., I have used some basic chrome cleaner on the rims themselves w/ steel wool and they have turned out pretty good. I am having problems with the aluminum? hubs. I can seem to get them to clean up very well. I have used, the chrome polish, and today tried some neverdull, both worked but just not very well. I am sure someone knows the magic product to get these things looking good again.

If there's any clear coat left on the hubs, strip it off with gasket or paint remover, then try Mothers mag and aluminum polish, available at kragen, and even some home improvement stores.

i did not even think about the hubs having clear coat on them. I will definitely try paint remover on a small spot and then rub, rub, rub, rub, some more.

Pretty sure I can rustle up some Solvol here, if you want me to post you some just drop me your address.

I'm just starting polishing my hubs, they're in a pretty bad way but I've bought a polishing kit for a bench grinder (machinemart.co.uk) and my trial run was pretty successful. I'll still finish by hand with the solvol though I think.
