Spark plug wiresSpark plug wiresCouple of quick questions, do I have to use solid core wires or can I replace them with more modern strand core wires? What problems could it cause if I use the wrong wires? Thanks everyone.
Re: Spark plug wiresJust use the solid wire and don't worry about what happens if you don't. ...........lm

Well the reason I ask is because I already did it and am wondering if it is a part of my problems. I just got done with a resto and have just got the bike running, first time I have ever heard it run so I am wondering if there is other problems. If you don't mind, I am gonna throw this out here and see if you have any ideas. Did a full rebuild on engine and carbs. I know internal timing is right but haven't checked ignition timing yet, so I know that is a BIG must. However, here is my current state. Have to give it 3/4 choke to start, a little throttle to start too. It then starts and will idle for a few minutes but it will eventually start to increase in RPM very quickly until I close the choke and kill it. It does that with the choke at 3/4 or fully open. Really don't wanna pull carbs off and re-check everything but I think that is what I am gonna have to do. Any ideas or suggestions I can check before that? Thanks for any help!
You haven't timed the points and you expect that engine to run well. I DON'T THINK SO! You can/will for sure have running problems. I'm curious just what you expect the engine to run like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. .........LM

I whole-heartedley agree with LM; and I'd also say that your carburation is weak (lean) if the RPMs increase with engine temp or more air / less fuel. Fuel/air ratio is, and always has been, 14:1; more fuel/less O² = slower idle, less fuel/more O² = higher idle. Work on those equations.
