Curiosity is killing me

Post by britman » Sun Aug 17, 2008 2:08 pm

Today I pulled the frozen motor from the frame I am going to use on my next CL project. I was going to strip the frame and power wash everything, but the locked up motor got me side tracked. I ended up pulling the top end. I was expecting the rings to be frozen to the cylinder wall, but as soon as I tapped the cylinder with a rubber mallet it came loose and slid over the pistons. The head and cylinders look good. The bottom end is locked up. Frozen crankshaft bearings????? The pistons are free on the pins and besides a small chunk missing between the ring grooves on the left one they don't look that bad, but you can't turn the crankshaft at all. It will be a couple of weeks due to my schedule before I get split the cases to get a closer look, but my curiosity is killing me. Anybody got any ideas. One further thing. I can't make out the size on the top of the pistons, but the rings are marked "N". Do I have a stock bore?
