Kickstart has no resistance

Post by Dogsbd » Wed Aug 13, 2008 5:49 pm

1966 CA77

Kickstart doesn't seem to be engaging. No resistance at all, stator doesn't move when kicking the kickstart lever. When in gear however kicking the kickstart lever does turn the rear wheel.

Help!

Could be... but does the kick start act through the clutch?

I know that if you have it adjusted to tight it will just like you have the clutch lever pulled in. If you try to kickstart the bike with the lever in it doesnt work.

Oh I see, so it forces you to have the transmission in neutral to kickstart? Ingenious!

Hopefully that is my issue, I'll check tonight / this weekend. Thanks!
