Hey group.
I'm new here and would like to say hey to everybody. Nice informative site.
I've been working on a barn find 65/66 CL77 and going through it before trying to get it running. The cam chain tensioner locking screw is stuck and might break off if I can't get it out.
Question is: If I need to take the assembly completely out to get the broken bolt out, will it just come right out without losing any partd down into the engine? I don't have the assembly manuals yet and would like to work on it.
I'll try the normal means(heat and 2lb sledge and C-4) to get it out, but it might not budge.
Tks

Cam chain tensioner bolt broken off?
Take the four bolts holding the tensioner to the cylinders out. The whole mechanism will come out with no parts dropping in. The roller and lever will pivot down as you remove it, but it is attached to the alum. casting. Check the condition of the rubber roller. Chances are its not pliable anymore and may be coming apart. If missing chunks, you need to take the oil pump and screen out, but thats another chapter!
Cam chain tensionerThanks
I was thinking it would be that way, but you never know!!!! So far, that and a cracked casting where it tossed a chain is about the only glaring thing that looks out of place. JR
