changing tires
Rear tireYes, I suffered 25 years ago when I first put my CL back together to ride and I must say I'm suffering again in 2008 trying to get it together again. I had no internet then and made it through by reading the clymer manual cover to cover and spent hours putting things in wrong and then tearing it back out. But I finally got it right.
To me, figuring out how something works is half the fun of working on these bikes. Who knows when one might break down on the side of the road miles from help, much less from a computer hooked up to the www. How ya gonna fix it if you don't know how it works? I've made the mistake of asking before I REALLY tried to figure it out and I for one love to share info I have learned, Especially to those that have suffered trying to figure it out on their own. Not that this applies to anything in this thread but one of the things that really burns me is someone who knows NOTHING about their ride criticizing someone elses ride. I guess the bottom line is if you're gonna ride it, know it. Just my $.02 worth. Gary '65 CL77 Owner
Well, I got 'em off after finding the chain guard bolts that time forgot under 42 years of grime. Getting the bike off the ground by myself was a bitch, but luckily my neighbor Bob is up fishing in Ontario so he won't see the Dream hanging from his tree by a block and tackle. (I'm kidding, I used a bike jack, but in the past I have used Bob's tree to load my Yamaha TW200 in my boat to take up north. The lumber yard up there charges me a 12-pack of Linenkugels to yank it out with a forklift).
Getting the new Firestone 16" whitewalls that came with the bike mounted tomorrow with fresh tubes and then putting it all back together tomorrow night. Loud Mouse: Next time you have a beer, pretend I'm buying it for you and remember the favor you did me. I appreciate it... You should heave seen me last summer when I ripped apart a CL350 and managed to go from this: to this: ;-)
BEER! BEER you say!!!!!
Well I'm a whiskey drinker so it may take a while before I drink that beer and think it's from you. Your pics show you have talent and are capable of getting to it with your DREAM. Have fun Phil. ..............lm
