Sidecovers and exhaust pipe clearance

Post by cribbs74 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 7:36 am

So I am nearing completion on my 66 CL77, one thing I noticed during disassembly is that the left side cover could not be removed while the exhaust pipes are in place. No big deal then, but now that I have to put it all together I am in a quandry as I need to leave the sidecovers/air filters off the bike while I test and tune the engine. Of course I need the exhaust pipe installed while tuning.

So my question is do I really need to take the pipes off after I run the engine just to install the sidecover/air filter? Or am I missing something. Any thoughts? Thanks.

All you need to do is loosen the pipes and install the cover and air tube. .................lm

EMO,

Thanks for the reply, so basically just leave the exhuast bolted the the head and just loosen the rear mount?

You will find that all the attachment points will need to be loosened. Shake the pipes out enough to get the parts in there and tighten the nuts/bolt. .......lm
