Starter Motor Issue

One other possibility is that the starter relay is stuck in the on state, probably from rust. To check this, reconnect the small wires and disconnect one of the large ones. Pressing the starter button should lead to a reasonable loud click from the relay that is hard to hear normally because of the noise of starting the engine. Fortunately the relay can be disassembled and serviced if this is the case.
