Clear Coat??

Post by Ford Guy » Wed Mar 05, 2008 1:25 pm

As I am cleaning up some parts from a parts bike I bought I see alot of cleat Coat on the3 aluminum (hubs top of the triple tree) I am wondering if this was from the factory or did someone coat these parts. I have yet to check the original parts on my bike. Also wonder if once the parts are cleaned if clear coating is a good option ?

Thanks

Jon

Jon, clear coated from the factory. I strip and polish, then leave them bare. It's easy to polish the parts back up with Mothers. The clear will yellow, and peel over time.

Aircraft stripper in a rattle can. I get it at Kragen. It works really well.
