oil filter 305 dream

just noticed that the sprocket that drives the oil filter on my 305 dream "free wheels" on the crank. is this normal?

Normal no. Common to find , I'd say yes. You'll have to pull the side cover. On mine the tapered washer was not seated correctly even though the nut was tight and the lock washer and tab were in place. If not careful during assembly the washer can be tightened down on the end of the shaft instead of the drive gear. I'f heard of this more than once. HTH . Brent
