left cam shaft re-assembly

Post by kawonda750 » Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:39 pm

Do I remove the cam bolt in the left side camshaft to relieve a bit of the pressure on the spline to easily assemble that side to the cam sprocket? Or, do I just bang it in?

The bolt is stuck in there pretty well.

You can't remove the bolt from the camshaft with the shaft in place. You can loosen the nut on the end of the bolt, then give it a little tap on the end with a small hammer to loosen the bolt within the shaft half. This will make it easier to remove/install.

OK Thanks. I wanted to make sure. I finally did loosen it and it fits better now.
The Honda shop manual really tells you nothing.
Thanks again.
