Oil seal intsallation

Post by Farm Shop » Thu Nov 20, 2014 4:10 pm

I currently have the crankcases split on my scrambler and was wondering what the preferred method of installing the new oil seals is?

Should i place them on the shafts and then clamp the case halves around them or put the halves together and then knock them in with the correct size sockets?

If you have the cases apart it is always preferable to install the seals then instead of after closing up the cases. Lightly oil the ID of the seals then slide them on the shafts. Before you tighten the case nuts/screws make sure the seals are aligned correctly
