360 to 180 crank

Post by Waveblaster » Wed Apr 30, 2014 9:29 am

Can the 360 crank be heated and pressed apart and reassembled as a 180? or are the counter weights and location pegs different?

Also can some confirm if there is indeed a difference between the CL and CB crank? I heard that there may be a variation with an extra oil gallery is this true?

regards

Greg

Hi,

- in theory yes, but more difficult then you describe (I did it with a very cheap NOS crank which I transformed into a NOS CB crank, believe me, I wouldn't do it again)
- Yes, they are different, yes the CL has NO oil hole to the starter area

Cheers Jensey,

Is there a website that describes the process?

I am trying to picture the hole for the oil on the cb over cl crank is this in the bearing race or the crank itself?

regards

Greg

Hi Greg,

Maybe, but I don't think so, at least I did not found a web site describing it, nor really looking too, btw.

I did crank work before, it's easy when you know what to do, but my first three cranks for practising are worthless (they already were not good anyway).
