CL77 Kick Start

My 305 Scrambler kick start is stuck in the down position near the foot peg and will not return. The return spring never did work but it would kick over and start. Now it is stuck down.

Any ideas on what to do?

Common problem. kick starter joint (28241-259-000) for my 1965 CL77100804 cracked a few months ago. There are other posts about this. It's the part the kick stater attaches to. It causes it to lose connection to the shaft that goes into the trans. You have to remove the right side cover to replace it. While you in there you can figure out why your return spring is not working. I found a new replacement on ebay. Try posting in parts wanted to see if any has one but I think new would be better because they tend to crack with age.
