im stuck during teardown. need cb77 flywheel puller

Post by apophis » Thu Jul 11, 2013 12:09 pm

I have 4 honda flywheel pullers (stator/magneto pullers), but none fit my CB77. What do I need to pull the flywheel off?

Search "remove rotor" over there <--- and you'll get a number of posts on how to remove it. You can actually "push" it off with a 16mm bolt that screws into the rotor and pushes against the end of the crank. Sometimes the front axle has the right threads. My 3-jaw puller and a dead-blow hammer has never let me down though...

Rotor removal

The correct bolt is a 16mm with a 1.5 mm. pitch. May be hard to find. I went through the front axle, rear axle, etc. and there's not a bolt on a CB 77 that will fit the hole in the rotor. Check with someone who handles hardware for auto shops. Thats where I got mine from.

I should buy it, but I'll pass it on.

i know I will have to wait a few days to have the tool, is there a method anyone uses to hold the flywheel in place when using the tool.

note: My engine is upside down. I am not removing the head/cylinders. I am pulling the bottom case 1/2 off to see what is wrong with 2nd gear (the gear itself, shift fork or star/drum)

My thought was I would need to get a strap wrench.
