blowing oilblowing oilI've just rebuilt my 1966 305 dream engine and have been having an issue with oil blow-by. It cranks and runs fine but just after a few minutes of run time it starts smoking from head vent tube. I've pulled th head cover to make sure that the steel plate was facing the correct way and it still smokes and blows oil out the hose. After a short ride of about 10 miles it will drip oil from the chain area. Oil is coming from vent pipe. I've also checked the oil level and am running 20-50 castrol. Rings might need more run time. I've only been about 100 miles since rebuild. Any help would sure be nice.
Re: blowing oilWhere are you located?
Which direction are the 2 plate/gasket drip holes?. .......lm
Finally fixed the oil problem. I pulled the head cover back off and the steel plate was on correctly (little holes toward the exhaust). I made a new gasket that is more of a solid cover than just an outline around the outside edge. this may be what was suppose to be used. The gasket set I bought had two gaskets that were just outlines around the vent area. Anyway it's now fixed. Thanks for the help.
