ringsringsinstalling new rings on an old piston. the middle ring Ive had a problem of "seating in the grove". i had cleaned the groves in the piston prior to placing the rings. the middle one had 2 tight spots (close to each other) where the ring wouldnt seat all the way in. WIth a magnifier I say nothing. I marked the two areas and then scrapped and then wet sanded. It fits, but you can tell it still binds a bit. these are standard size. should I chuck the piston or is it good to go or Shave some more out?
Yup cylinder honed and ring gap/cylinder walls measured. WNL Just had a couple of tight spots on ring grove on piston. IM (From this forum)got me thinking. I live in a small town with not alot of choices of odd tools ect. But Ignition file was perfect, fit in the grove, flat. lightly filed and walha:)
The rings move nicely in their respective piston grove. (didnt have old rings)
