Stops at 6000 rpm

Post by masonmart » Sun Sep 02, 2012 11:03 am

I have a lovely early 305 that has just been recommissioned after a long storage. It starts and runs really well and carbs, points, timing, compression, etc., all look spot on but out on the road I can't get it to go much past 6000rpm. Any hints on what I can look at?

Did you set points and timing with Ed's tune up recipie? What jets, and needles, size and manufacturer are in the carbs? Altitude where you are?

Hello and thanks. No I wouldn't know where Ed's recipe is, I've hardly ever used this board and I'm new to the bikes. Regarding the size and manufacturer of the needles and jetc I don't know and can't find out until I'm back home. Do you know what they should be?

Yellow FAQ bar, then "how do I tune my Honda" forEd's recipie. 135 main, 42 pilot K24231, or something close, can't check exact #s right now for the needles. Start with a proper ignition tune up, and you "carb" issues may disappear!
